Niall Horan announced as latest ambassador for the 2016 Ryder Cup

One Direction may be on hiatus, but that has yet to stop Niall Horan from being consistently active.

Earlier in the week, pro golfer Darren Clarke took to Twitter announcing that our favorite irish lad is now the latest ambassador for the 2016 Ryder Cup!

Established in 1927, the name “Ryder Cup” was an honorary of English businessman Samuel Ryder who donated the famous golden trophy. It is a biennial men’s golf competition that is broken down into teams from both Europe and the United States.

We were also able to witness the 22 year old singer attend and actively participate in the BMW PGA Championship Pro-Am with one of his dear friends Rory McIlroy, back in May.

During his time there, Niall had expressed his hopes in seeing more women take part in Golf.

“I would really like to see a lot more girls playing it. The girls’ LPGA tour at the moment is absolutely amazing and there should definitely be more kids playing.”
